Your Guide to LGBTQ+ Korea

Kaydar is an independent English-language travel and culture guide created for LGBTQ+ visitors who want Korea to feel understandable without being reduced to a checklist. We write about neighborhoods, food, design, community life, etiquette, transport and the small practical choices that make a trip feel more comfortable.

Why Kaydar exists

Travel information is often good at telling you where something is and less good at describing how a day may actually feel. A map cannot tell you when a neighborhood becomes overwhelming, why an early night can be the right choice, or how privacy and identity may shift between settings. Kaydar tries to fill that space between logistics and lived experience.

We are especially interested in travelers who do not fit the stereotype of a nonstop social trip: solo visitors, couples, older travelers, introverts, first-time visitors, people who love museums more than parties, and anyone who simply wants room to choose their own pace.

What we publish

Our public site focuses on original editorial guides: city orientation, food and café culture, art and design, mainstream music culture, community events, privacy, language, transport and respectful travel. We aim for pages that remain useful even when a specific business changes, because good travel judgment lasts longer than a list of pins.

How we work

We separate evergreen context from facts that need current verification. When schedules, events or services can change, we encourage readers to confirm them with primary sources close to the travel date. We revise pages when corrections are needed and explain our process in Editorial Standards.

Our relationship with readers

Kaydar is not interested in making travelers anxious enough to keep clicking. We would rather help you feel prepared, close the browser and enjoy Korea. If a guide gives you enough confidence to put the phone away for an hour, it has done something right.
