Our editorial purpose

Kaydar is published by Michael Bahk to protect and advance the interests of LGBTQ+ visitors to Korea and make their travels easier and better informed. A useful guide should answer a real reader question, explain meaningful choices, describe practical conditions and show where changing facts can be checked. We revise or consolidate material that repeats the same advice without adding value. We do not create pages solely to increase search coverage.

How facts are checked

For entry requirements, transport, public events, official attractions and legal or institutional claims, we prefer primary sources: the responsible government authority, operator, museum, festival organizer or other institution. We distinguish a directly reviewed document from a reference link that has not been rechecked during the current revision. An old official page is not proof of today’s opening hours.

Our source records identify the organization, document, URL, review date and scope of the check. A document may establish a historical date or the existence of a policy without establishing that a service is currently available. Where evidence is insufficient, we qualify the statement, provide an official reference for readers to check or omit the unsupported claim.

Bylines, accountability and review dates

Michael Bahk is responsible for Kaydar’s editorial direction and final publication decisions. “Kaydar Editorial” is the publication’s byline; it does not imply a separate fact-checking organization, an individual professional qualification or an undocumented firsthand visit. AI-assisted drafting and source research do not replace human editorial responsibility. The publisher evaluates material claims, source limitations, rights and disclosures before publication, and responds to substantive corrections.

We update a page’s modified date when its content is materially revised. A new date is not intended to suggest that every restaurant, attraction or transport operator was contacted on that day. When a correction materially changes a previously published statement, we explain the change where useful for readers.

Travel routes and changing information

Our itineraries are editorial syntheses based on geography, public information and practical trade-offs. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, they are not accounts of journeys personally completed by a writer. We do not invent journey times, hotel experiences, restaurant visits, interviews, live schedules or verified bookings.

Prices, opening hours, entry requirements, accessibility arrangements, transport and event dates can change. Readers should consult the responsible operator for their intended travel date. A historical event remains historical even when its source page is still online. We do not advance a festival date by a year to create an invented future calendar entry.

LGBTQ+ representation and privacy

We discuss queer culture through public institutions, primary records, organizer announcements and respectful editorial analysis. We do not treat LGBTQ+ identity as sexual content or assume that every queer traveler wants nightlife or private social encounters. We avoid unauthorized identification, outing, unnecessary sensitive personal data and unverified claims about the identity or suitability of individual businesses. Ordinary editorial correspondence does not require disclosure of sexual orientation.

AI, photography and media

AI tools may assist with research organization, drafting, translation, editing, code and editorial illustrations. They are not independent evidence. We do not publish invented firsthand experiences, interviews, source quotations, credentials or statistics. Material facts require appropriate sources and human editorial judgment.

AI-generated illustrations are labeled as such and are not presented as documentary photographs of named locations, actual events or real businesses. Third-party images and footage require source and rights records. An external image URL or a generic platform license does not guarantee that all underlying rights are cleared. See Media Credits.

Corrections and editorial independence

Send a correction to contact@kaydar.net with the page URL, the specific claim and relevant evidence. We review substantive corrections and update the article when warranted. We do not promise immediate replies or silently convert an unverified claim into a verified one. Advertising or sponsorship cannot purchase a favorable conclusion. Any paid relationship introduced in future will be disclosed where relevant.

Publication quality gates

Every article begins with a defined reader question and a reason for existing separately from other guides. The editor checks whether it adds specific analysis, useful comparisons or original information beyond its sources, and removes repeated generic advice. Facts with material consequences are linked to the responsible primary document. Changing dates, prices, access and service details are either verified for the stated scope or clearly qualified.

A failed factual check is a reason to correct, qualify or remove a claim, not to invent a replacement. We do not publish to a target word count or claim that an internal quality score is a Google approval metric. Technical checks cover internal links, canonical URLs, structured data, search index, sitemap, media references and preservation of working functionality. Local tests and production results are reported separately.

Research scope of the current edition

The September 2026 edition consolidates twenty travel and culture guides and directly reviews selected primary documents. It does not constitute a physical inspection of every destination, an independent legal opinion, a live check of all services or an authenticated audit of the advertising account. The public source register retains the distinction between reviewed documents and inherited references. The responsible publisher accepts editorial accountability for the published edition; that accountability is not a claim that every external fact has been independently verified.
